Plan with care

    Tanzania Safari Packing List

Pack for the season, activities, accommodation style and transport rules in your confirmed itinerary. This is a general checklist, not an airline baggage allowance.

    Safari essentials

Use comfortable, practical clothing and protect yourself from sun, dust and changing temperatures. Confirm any specialist requirements with your guide and accommodation.

    • Neutral, comfortable clothing and a warm layer for early mornings
    • Sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
    • Closed walking shoes and sandals for camp or beach
    • Personal medication and a small personal first-aid kit
    • Binoculars and camera equipment if desired
    • Reusable water bottle where appropriate

    Kilimanjaro

Trekking requires a separate equipment list matched to route, altitude and expected conditions. Ask your operator for the current gear list before departure; do not rely on the safari checklist alone.

    Fly-in safaris

Small aircraft impose operator-specific weight and bag-dimension limits. Soft-sided luggage may be required. Check the current limit for every flight and include hand luggage and camera gear in the total.

    Zanzibar

Bring beachwear, sun protection and any items needed for water activities. Check the excursion operator's requirements and respect local customs when visiting towns, villages and religious sites.

Always confirm current rules and arrangements with the relevant official authority or provider. Information on this page is a planning overview, not a guarantee of access, weather, availability or wildlife sightings.
